Dreyfoos School of the Arts, paying tribute to my growth and development over the years demonstrating my conjured style and technique in paint and the subject being myself to acknowledge my own resolve on what I call art. A stone backdrop to symbol my solid grounds on self-identity and a subtle smile with brightness and warmth to my face calling on the success I’ve felt internally – completing my years in secondary school and arriving on top after love, loss, and personal distraught.”

– “This painting marks a return to my painting practice after years of focusing on my university studies. Using my husband as the subject, the work revisits my exploration of figurative painting and the act of capturing a moment of stillness in time. Referenced from a photograph, the composition aims for a classical presence while allowing organic shifts in the skin’s tone and hue to emerge through the interaction of two light sources. The warmth in his ears and on his cheeks is the distinction that makes this portrait alive against the coolness of his surroundings. These subtle variations in color and light bring depths and life to the subject, emphasizing the quiet beauty found within this moment of capture.”
